Does the course fee include accommodation?
Yes, there is fully furnished student housing on the campus – within walking distance of the church – that is specifically for students enrolled on the programme. We have a limited space of 27 in the house. The place in the house will be confirmed once the acceptance fee has been paid.
How much of the year is dedicated to missions?
As part of the programme, students will endeavour to reach out across South Africa and other neighbouring countries. In the fourth module, we will travel internationally (Namibia/Botswana/Swaziland/
Does the course fee include food?
Yes, the course fee includes three daily meals – breakfast, lunch, and supper – from Mondays to Sundays. There is also a personal fridge in each house, should one have the desire to buy additional food or luxuries (we advise the students to mark any personal groceries).
What does it not include?
Passport expenses, bedding, clothes, washing basket (for dirty laundry), washing powder, washing pegs, transport to and from the Airport, Gautrain Station, etc., and a lock (for one’s personal locker).
What portion of the year is dedicated to outreach?
As part of the programme, students will be involved in the following initiatives:
Weekly involvement in local community projects
Weekend outreaches within South Africa
Three-week outreaches across South Africa and neighbouring countries
Is it possible to redo or better my science and maths while doing YOYL?
Yes, Year of Your Life offers time off for students to redo their maths and other subjects required. We do not have our own personal Tutors available but are aware of excellent companies with whom we are able to direct parents for professional tutoring.
